Residential Interior Designer / Project Manager

JOB OVERVIEW: As a Residential Interior Designer/Project Manager at Haven Design Group, you will play a pivotal role in turning our clients' design visions into reality. You will be responsible for overseeing the entire project lifecycle, from concept development to project completion, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and with the highest level of quality. This position requires a unique combination of design expertise and project management skills, plus excellent communication, making it an ideal opportunity for a creative professional with a passion for interior design and a knack for organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with clients to understand their design preferences, needs, and objectives.

  • Lead the design development process, including space planning, material selection, and creating design concepts.

  • Create detailed project proposals, budgets, and timelines, and present them to clients for approval.

  • Coordinate with architects, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure seamless project execution.

  • Source and procure materials, furniture, and fixtures, while adhering to budget constraints and design specifications.

  • Manage and supervise all aspects of the construction and installation process, ensuring quality and design intent are maintained.

  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, resolve issues, and provide guidance to the project team.

  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including contracts, change orders, and project schedules.

  • Keep clients informed about project status, changes, and any potential challenges.

  • Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget, meeting or exceeding client expectations.

  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and new design materials to enhance project outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (Interior Design or Business related is preferred)

  • Proven experience in interior design and project management, with a minimum of 3 years in a similar role.

  • Technology proficient (Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Chief Architect, SketchUp, and/or Adobe Creative Suite is a plus)

  • Strong project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and project teams.

  • Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and construction processes.

  • Detail-oriented with a keen eye for design aesthetics and quality.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

  • The ability to work independently and display proper intuition.

  • Professional certifications are a plus.

Schedule: This is a full-time position where the successful candidate will work in our Geneva, Illinois office, as well as travel to our clients, vendors, and manufacturing partner showrooms in the Chicago area.
